Max Power – CL&P’s Art of Deception and Diversion

I just got off of seven, yes seven days in the dark and cold without electricity ( I was just informed that it was in actuality 8 days).  You may wonder why someone who lives in the state that pays the HIGHEST rates for power in the United States was without power for a full 7 days following a freak winter Nor’easter.  Well the answer is simple, and his name is Jeff Butler.  Mr Butler has a history of making up stories and well…. embellishing half truths to cover up for corporate stupidity.  Just look back 3 months during Hurricane Irene, and you’ll understand.

However, now that the power is coming back and stories from towns are coming out that crews were pulled from critical areas, that crews were sitting around doing nothing, that crews didn’t have a CLUE what they were supposed to be doing (and don’t get me wrong, the out of state people that came in are doing a superb job, they just haven’t been given good direction by CL&P) And reports form people that CL&P employees were laughing at the lack of power and telling people that they should be grateful that CL&P was even working on it, almost looking like they withheld power just to make a point that they were in charge and controlled it all.

What needs to happen now in very short order is simple.

1) We as a state need to get together and hold hearings and investigations into why CL&P was not on top of this from Day One, and took 3 days before they started restoration.

2) We as a state need to hold the Government responsible to follow through ont he promises to investigate, legislate and hold CL&P accountable.  Also to tell CL&P’s millions of dollars in funds to lobby for lenient sentences and regulations, that we will not be swayed by dollars in the pocket.

3) Make the shareholders and execs take a hit on this one, we ratepayers are sick and tired of having this burden placed upon us, just to have more shoddy service.

If we follow though and remember to NEVER FORGIVE AND NEVER FORGET, we may be able to effect change.

I never thought I would see the day where a major US company, that always thrived on “thinking Different” would sink to this level..

No Cash, No $ervice.

You heard me right, no cash no service.  Cash, long held as that which we all wanted, long heralded as that which we need to survive, is (well according to the corporate goons that offered me 10% off a new Mac for the insult its accepted) is looked down upon by Apple.

What makes it worse is their response which is as big an insult as the initial problem.

10% off the machine’s price. That’s even more of an insult to my intelligence than the initial incident.  You’re a big enough company, you can afford to make this right for me, I’m not asking for millions of dollars in settlement, nor am I asking for anything too much off the wall, a nice new iMac would suffice, and an iPad or two for my embarrasment.. You started this, I’m gonna finish it…….

To this end, I will be notifying every media outlet of this embarrassment of a long time Apple user and the hideous response i have gotten.  Maybe then I will be noticed by someone high enough up there to actually give me what I really want in the first place..  An apology worth my while.

Abandon all hope ye who use our service...

I am not usually this mean to a company, well yes I am… 😉

Comcast needs to be investigated for their business practices and soon.  Their customer service is second to none when it comes to being insulting and demeaning to the consumer.  Their techs (with the exception of one really cool Mac user that came out) are bumbling buffoons, and their upper management seems more intent on lining their pockets than providing usable service.

This past week we switched to AT&T for Internet and Phone, and DirecTV for television.  Comcast wasted NO TIME deactivating email and the like, normally companies give you a little time to finish getting your waiting e-mail, NOT COMCAST, in the middle of transferring, poof 1/2 an email and then “Error: Username/password invalid”

Companies like that that think they are Gods and become spiteful need to be investigated… especially when they provide really crappy service and then take it out on the consumers as if it’s their fault.

I can almost guarantee that no-one from Comcast will ever respond to this, since it seems to be corporate policy to screw their customers.

Downsizing... No Health Care for You

It finally happened, I made a really stupid decision and decided on my own to move a Circa 1996 Sony CRT Television (25 incher) on my own fromt he living room to the area next to the garage where the garbage goes.  I had the thing pretty much taken apart, and well not realizing at the time how stupid it really was, moved it and then the pain hit.

You know that pain I’m sure, the knives and the screwdrivers poking and prodding into the base of your spine (in my case on my left side) and the feeling that every step you take from that point forward will lead to a disaster of biblical proportions as you go crashing to the floor, that pain.

So Anyhow after about a day of that (I’m a wuss I know) I went to the ER at St Francis, why, I have zero health coverage.  Make a long story short they were courteous, professional and made it so it didn’t hurt as much, but also gave me the name of a little clinic that was in their building that services people with little to no coverage.  That was my mistake… Trusting that this clinic was going to actually service.  Instead of service, they treated me with total disrepect, called me a scammer (as I can’t move, I’m really scamming hmm) and proceeded to inform me that my blood pressure wasn’t high enough for someone in any sort of pain.  (I run low to begin with, I wasn’t aware that 125/88 was that low) and then told me to “please leave, we won’t be assisting you today or any other day”

So begins my now crusade for some sort of doctor to see me and at least give me something now to alleviate the discomfort, and allow me to function somewhat normally for the 2-4 weeks that it should take for this to pass.  Drving is a chore, every single bump sends yet another wave of sharp pain, doind mundane things like oh sleeping are a chore now and all because the health insurance system in this country is broken beyond repair and Obamacare doesn’t fix any of it, in fact it makes it worse…

For those of you who think this new health system is going to be a godsend, i can’t wait to laugh and laugh…

Verizon dies a quick death

Verizon FiOS.. Has it died a quick death??

Don’t get me wrong the servie was great until a few months ago when they “upgraded” their digital boxes.  Then the strange things started happening.  I am certainly not a huge hockey fan, yes I loved going to Indians (Springfield MA) games when I was in HS and I still like the occasional Montreal Canadians game, but not enough to pay 100+ dollars for NHL Center Ice, and when it was found, along with porn channels being billed to the service,  it was a quick call to Verizon, who now claimed the bill was upwards of 900 dollars, and when we ent down the list i was able to say no no no no no to 99.9% of the stuff.  OK fine, that solved that, or so I thought…..

What do you want us to do about it, we don’t give refunds, especially if you are the retard that doesn’t know how to lock your box.

Well, the box was locked until their “upgrade” then it seems to have lost it’s lock, and any Tom, Dick or Harry could just pop on and order Playboy at Night..  I protested the charges, they said “Tough” and that’s where it was left for now…

I wonder what deals their competitors have right now hmmmm.

Fun with Funai: Day 8

Day 8:

Still no replacementBlu-ray even though i was assured that i’d have one by the end of business on Wednesday.  No contact back on any inquiries and no hope of getting them to honor their products.  Remember the days that it used to be if a product was less than 30 days old places would cheerfully replace it? Not Funai, they seem to think people thrive on 8-10 months without thier purchases.

Well I for one am sick of this kind of blatent money-grabbing scam by companies that prey on people looking for a bargain.  Instead of supporting this type of behavior we should be punishing it, by boycotting as consumers and by criminal penalties by the government.  No more should be the mantra we all chant as we no longer fund this clearly criminal enterprise, as they insist on payment oup front for service on their defective crap, we should demand that we have our stuff fixed in a timely fashion.  8-10 months implies tha they have so many repairs that they cannot keep up, which in turn implies that they make crap.

Filed a formal complaint with our state AG and the BBB yesterday, lets see if they ignore it now.

The 1 Dollar Bill Debacle

Do they even realize it's Christmas???

Allrighty… Before I begin let me just say I’m not going to burst into any foul language here, but heaven knows I really, really want to, but, you know, these people really need to all be placed in a small room together and be forced to help each other out to escape, maybe then, and only then would they understand the anguish they cause other people.

Chase Bank is by far the biggest offender of all the banks I’ve had the displeasure of dealing with (I don’t have a “bank account” for the reasons I’m about to mention) they hide behind rules and regulations that make little to no sense, and could only be understood by someone with a PhD in babble.  Take for instance if you are paid by a check, used ot be that you could walk into the issuing bank and cash your check, WRONG!!! Chase, makes you sit there while they tell you 500 reasons why they can’t cash it.  Which brings me to today’s run in.  We have two branches here in the village, one was willing to help but their counting machine was horribly broken, I could see the thing so I knew the poor girl wasn’t lying to me, so they suggested I go to the other branch down the road, which was bigger and has more staff.  So I did..   I wish I hadn’t because it just made my foul mood that much more foul.  First I got told that i had to open an account in order to cash in my stack of 1 dollar bills for larger notes.  When I said I didn’t really want to open an account today, I just wanted to cash in my bills to go shopping (Stores around these here parts are getting worse at accepting 1’s) the girl laughed at me, proceeded to call me a terrorist (I believe the exact words were “Only a terrorist or someone involved in a terrorist activity would not wish to open an account”) and then asked if I had any brain cells at all, this was “New York for gods sake, we don’t have to do anything we don’t want to do, and that includes changing money”

It’s a bank yes or no?  Banks deal in cash yes or no?  Cash is cash yes or no?

The final response from her and several other banks in the area was that they had the means to assist but they didn’t have to so they weren’t going to.  Which brings me to my final point on the matter:

We as Americans have become the land of the “NO” instead of a people that care about each other and will assist anyone.  When along the line did it become more important to find 100 ways to tell someone no on something simple, than to just see the situation and assist if you could.

Since there is no Federal Regulation stating that they cannot, it’s a crime in my eyes that they hide behind obscure laws that have nothing to do with the transaction.  A 1 dollar bill or 300 1 dollar bills isn’t gonna hurt you.
